Surface under gas range cooktop

Building a kitchen and may have a simple question. Installing a gas range commercial style cooktop and says non-combustible material under unit, what materials do you use for that surface? Do you apply an insulation blanket of some sort or a fire rated plywood? Thanks for any info.

if you have to follow city codes .
most commercial products are not appoved
for city codes. so i would check with inspector 1st.

Many MDF producers offer fire retardant panels.

Many manufacturers produce a metal liner for underneath their cooktops/grilles, usually with built-in spacers for mounting the unit. If your cooktop doesn't, just design something with a bottom/sides and have it fabricated in stainless.
