Vertical Panel Saw tearout
6/25/24
I am considering adding a used Holtzher 1265 supercut to the shop but would have to eliminate a sliding table saw due to space confinements. I only use prefinished plywood for my boxes and I am concerned with cut quality. I do not have premill on my EB. I know the supercut has scoring knives but concerned it wont match or exceed a scoring blade on the horizontal slider? Any advice or experience?
Thanks!

Can't comment on the Holz Her but I have an 88 Striebig Standard that uses single blade scoring with main blade as a climb cut, through on down cut.
Cuts very clean, especially with fresh blade. I don't know if climb cut is possible on the HH
Replaced an SCMI slider with the vertical and wouldn't consider going back.
I have dedicated 8020 jigs to production cut common angle cuts like 45 degree angled cabinets. The very occassional oddball cuts are quick and clean with the track saw

Change your space and keep the slide saw. You will find both very useful for different things. I have an Altendorf and a Striebig. Hard to eliminate one or the other.
