Negatives about these CNC brands -- 1 --
10/6

Website: http://www.crowescabinets.com
I know there are threads out there of people searching for a CNC, I have done some looking around but i cannot find too much of what I am looking for. So we all know there are some great manufacturers of CNC equipment out there and it's very hard to choose which one to go with. So really, the question I really need answered is "What things are you unhappy with in regards to your CNC?" Whether it be service and support, features, how many times it goes down, etc. And another important question, would you buy it again (or another one of the same make) or recommend that someone else buy it? We are looking at the following brands and would like to hear your feedback: Multicam, Onsrud, Omnitech, and Morbidelli.
Thank you for your time.

It would be a great thing if there was an easy catch all do all for this, I know owners of each brand you mentioned who like their machines. they are some fickle things and probably none has not had a glitch at one time or another. that said I have seen little to no out right failures,
There is no substitute for LOTS of due diligence, asking these questions is part of that, I am sure you have seen the suggestions, "Go see the plants that build them" "go see them in shops that use them the way you will" Buy your second machine first" "Don't squint and think work arounds will always work" Make friends who may own a machine you may purchase. CNC is somewhat complex but not impossible there is a lot more needed even after purchase. software and learning curves can be an itch, There are soo many choices there is one for what you need. again go see them in shops at every opportunity, Most everyone I know is very enthused to show them as most of Us are still amazed we can actually do this . I hope this helps

Have had an Omnitech for about 7 years, doesn't get worked as hard as it should but has been a great machine.
Never had a service tech on site.
Have called the dealer a few times and have usually resolved the problems on the phone.
Once or twice have had to have a sensor shipped overnight.

I own 3 different biesse machines and 2 Multi-cams. Our oldest Multi-cam is a dinosaur and isn't even relevant in this conversation. Our newer machine is an 06 MG series servo machine with all the bells and whistles EXCEPT a drill block (really wish it had that). It doesn't do all the cool stuff we can do on the Biesse's but we do pretty much all are prototyping on it and it is far and away the most reliable machine we have because it is very simple. I would buy another, especially with a drill block, in a heartbeat if the price were right.

Biesse is actually back in the game now, they happened to stop by today and gave us a presentation and we liked what we saw. Since you have a few, do you have any comments on the machines?

I have a Biesse Rover B. In 10 years we have had no major problems, tech support and parts has been awesome. They have some great new machines and what you get for the money these days is great. I have a 12 spindle drill block and 10 position tool changer. I would like a bigger drill block for the work we do. I'm looking to replace my existing machine for one of their new auto load unload machine

We also have a Biesse router. 40HP vac pump and drill block. Been great, very reliable and no issues. We have a routine maint program in place that includes removing covers and checking wires that take a lot of abuse. 20 minutes a week.

Two Biesse Rover B's here. Outstanding machines and support. Highly recommend looking at them.

Well, we narrowed our search down to the Morbidelli m400 Full Cell flat table and the Biesse Rover BG Full Cell flat table. Both 5x12 tables. If you search for the morbidelli more than likely you wont find too much on it. Its been out for a few years but they have not put it on their website yet. You can however find a m400 pod and rail machine but its a different beast.
Anyone have any comments on these machines or brands? No matter who we go with we feel like we are getting a top of the line machjne designed to do exactly what we want. So the decision is going to come down to minor stuff and price.
Any feedback would be helpful.
We also looked at a Anderson/Omnitech. When you look at this brand it looks like you are looking at a honda civic. When you look at the biesse and morbidelli, it looks like your looking at a porsche. The features and how its built just does not appear to be in the same class.

FORUM GUIDELINES: Please review the guidelines below before posting at WOODWEB's Interactive Message Boards (return to top)
WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
A valid email return address must be included with each message.
Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
"Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.
Participants are encouraged to use their real name when posting. Intentionally using another persons name is prohibited, and posts of this nature will be removed at WOODWEB's discretion.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.
Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).
Libel: Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.
Improper Decorum: Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).
Advertising: The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).
Repeated Forum Abuse:
Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.
There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
The staff of WOODWEB assume no responsibility for the accuracy, content, or outcome of any posting transmitted at WOODWEB's Message Boards. Participants should undertake the use of machinery, materials and methods discussed at WOODWEB's Message Boards after considerate evaluation, and at their own risk. WOODWEB reserves the right to delete any messages it deems inappropriate. (return to top)
